
Former Dominican Republic senior national volleyball team captain will compete in the upcoming Hato Mayor Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Prisila Rivera, former captain of the Reinas del Caribe, the Dominican senior world volleyball team, is now playing beach volleyball competitively. She will compete for the Dominican Republic’s master’s team (Las Olimpicas) at the 29th edition of the Hato Mayor/Vicentillo Easter Sports Festival Beach Volleyball Tournament.
She will be joined by joined by fellow ex-Reina del Caribe players Cosiris Rodriguez and Alexandra (Rosa) Casó. All three have extensive indoor volleyball experience, having competed in regional, Olympic, and World events.
The 29th edition of the Hato Mayor/Vicentillo Easter Sports Festival beach volleyball competition will take place at the Rancho Ecoturístico Doña Callita from Thursday, April 17th (technical meeting) through Sunday, April 20th, when the finals and awards ceremonies will be held.
The tournament is open to free agents, master, and regional players, both male and female, with prize money totaling around RD$2 million (approximately US$34,000). The first-place winners in the open division will receive RD$180,000 (US$3,100), while the master’s category champions will be awarded RD$120,000 (US$2,000), along with trophies and medals in both cases.
The tournament is held in Hato Mayor to the north of Punta Cana. The town has built a reputation as the main destination for beach volleyball in the country. The tournament is a national and international benchmark due to its competitiveness and organizational excellence.
“This tournament has a great reputation and prestige,” Rivera emphasized. “It was always my dream to participate due to the positive feedback I heard from other volleyball players.”
In addition to volleyball, the festival will feature men’s softball, men’s and women’s dominoes, and billiards for local and regional teams.
