After three years of hard work, the LASO Foundation, which works to provide shelter for dogs and cats, received the good news that President Luis Abinader had approved the cession of lands that belonged to the State Sugar Council (CEA) for the construction of what is called the Ciudad de Angeles.
The City of Angels is promoted by LASO Foundation and described as a megaproject designed to support the care, rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration of vulnerable animals. The project also includes educational, tourism, and production areas, creating a multifaceted space for both conservation and community development.
The news was delivered, personally, by the head of the CEA and National Assets, Rafael Burgos Gomez during the celebration of the 2025 Agricultural Fair at the Ciudad Ganadera in Santo Domingo.
The first phase of the concession consists of 100 tareas (about 62,900 sq.mts.) in the old sugar fields near the municipality of San Luis, in Santo Domingo province.
More lands are to be made available as the project grows, according to the official.
Lorenny Solano, the president of the foundation, was effusive in giving thanks to the chief executive for the gift of the lands.
