
Cibao FC has been crowned once more the champion of the Dominican Football League (LDF) Cup Tournament, following a narrow 1-0 victory over Delfines del Este in the return leg final held at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) university stadium.
The only goal of the match came from forward Carlos Ventura, who capitalized on a precise cross from right-back Edwarlyn Reyes in the 90th minute to secure the win for Cibao FC.
As reporterd, the game was intense and evenly matched throughout, with the decisive moment coming in the dying seconds of the encounter.
During the awards ceremony, the match officials —Randy Encarnación, Raymundo Feliz, José Bare, and José Corporán— were recognized for their outstanding performances.
Additionally, Atlántico FC from Puerto Plata received the Fair Play Award.
In the individual awards, Delfines del Este goalkeeper Pedro Espinal, who conceded just six goals in fifteen matches, was highlighted. Cibao FC’s Colombian striker Rivaldo Correa was named top scorer with nine goals.
Carlos Ventura, the match-winner, was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final.
Delfines del Este finished as runners-up, notable for their strong defensive display throughout the competition, conceding only six goals in the entire tournament.
With this victory, Cibao FC has secured a spot in the 2026 Caribbean Cup organized by CONCACAF, as champions of the 2025 LDF Cup.
The next LDF season is scheduled to start in early August of this year and will run until May 2026.
