Central Electoral Board (JCE) simplifies civil status documents

Resolution 9-2025 authorizes the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to issue a single standard format effective 1 July 2025. This reform eliminates the previously available “extract” and “extensive” formats for birth, recognition, marriage, divorce, and death certificates. The new measure aims to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and improve citizen access to these essential services.

The civil status documents are available at National Registry Civil Status offices, both domestically and via JCE’s Overseas Service Offices.

The change is expected to reduce bureaucratic delays and simplify document issuance, addressing previous complexities that sometimes hindered citizen understanding and access.

New Fees for Civil Registry Documents

The JCE also announces adjusted fees for civil registry documents:
• Birth certificate: RD$600
• Recognition certificate: RD$600
• Marriage certificate: RD$600
• Divorce certificate: RD$600
• Death certificate: RD$600
• School certificate forms: RD$0.00
• ID card certificate forms: RD$0.00
• Judicial purpose certificates requested by the JCE’s Legal Consultancy: RD$0.00
