María Isabel Castillo Báez, the newly appointed ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the United States, officially presented her credentials to President Donald J. Trump in a formal ceremony held in the Oval Office of the White House on Wednesday, 11 June 2025.

This presentation formally enables Ambassador Castillo Báez to fully assume her duties as the Dominican government’s representative to the US administration, adhering to international diplomatic protocols and marking the official start of her mission in Washington, D.C.

In statements shared via social media, Ambassador Castillo Báez reiterated her commitment to strengthening ties between the Dominican Republic and the United States. She emphasized key areas of shared strategic interest, including trade, security, and migration.

Castillo Báez previously made history as the first Dominican woman to serve as Ambassador to Mexico. She now takes on this new role with the full support of the Dominican government, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation.

The US government has yet to complete the protocols for the named US ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Leah Francis Campos to begin her post. As reported, the appointment already passed in the Senate.
