Big time Venezuelan investor passes away in Santo Domingo

Luis Emilio Velutini Urbina, the Venezuelan investor who has brought millions of dollars for real estate and commercial developments in the Dominican Republic, passed away on 6 August 2025 in Santo Domingo. He is the Venezuelan man behind the Blue Malls in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, as part of projects he began 17 years ago when moving here from Venezuela.

A report in Diario Libre said he has invested in more than a million square meters of construction in the Dominican Republic that have resulted in 50,000 new jobs. He had established residence in Cap Cana (Punta Cana) and in Santo Domingo.

Through his contacts, he brought global brands such as most recently Tiffany jewelry to the BlueMall Santo Domingo. At present, the Blue Mall has an annex, the World Trade Center Santo Domingo, that is still in its final stages of construction and will be part of a global network of 91 countries, as reported in Diario Libre.
