President Abinader receives Miss Universe and Miss Dominican Republic at the Presidential Palace

President Luis Abinader and Vice President Raquel Peña welcomed Miss Universe 2024 (Miss Denmark), María Victoria Kjær, and Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2025, Jennifer Ventura, during a courtesy visit at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday afternoon, 18 August 2025.

The beauty queens were received in the private hall of the Presidential Palace at 3pm, where they took part in a warm and elegant gathering marked by national pride and international distinction, the Presidency reported.

President Abinader and Vice President Peña praised the global recognition and talent both women represent. They highlighted the importance of the Dominican contest in promoting the Dominican Republic and fostering cultural connections abroad.

Also in attendance was Magali Febles, director of the Miss Universe Dominican Republic franchise.

The reigning Miss Universe 2024, María Victoria Kjær Theilvig, is a Danish model, entrepreneur and professional dancer. Born in Søborg, southeast of Copenhagen, she made history by becoming the first Danish woman to win the Miss Universe crown. She is also currently pursuing a law degree.

Jennifer Ventura, recently crowned Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2025, will represent the country in the upcoming Miss Universe competition. She competed as Miss Barahona.
