The head of the Organizing Committee for the Central American and Caribbean Games 2026, Jose Monegro, Sports Minister Kelvin Cruz and the president of Centro Caribe Sports Luis Mejia Oviedo were in New York for the official naming of Mets slugger Juan Soto as Sports Ambassador for the summer games slated to take place in Santo Domingo. The announcement was made during the Sunday, 21 September 2025 Mets game at the Citi Field.
