Saturday, 27 September 2025 was World Tourism Day, and somebody asked ChatGPT what were the best places for tourists to visit in the Dominican Republic. The answers were interesting.
Number one, to the enjoyment of the Raineri family, was Punta Cana, the paradise on
the eastenr tip of the Dominican Republic that is the hottest tourist destination in the
Caribbean.
The second place went to the Colonial City in Santo Domingo, a historic area that the UNESCO named a World Heritage Site in 1990. The ChatGPT noted the history and colonial edifices.
In third place was Bahia de las Aguilas, down on the coast in southwestern Pedernales province. Currently, you need to take a boat to reach Bahia de las Aguilas, yet the pristine beach is the centerpiece of the development program for the area.
In fourth place is the Samana Peninsula and the El Limon waterfalls, Las Galeras, and Rincon beaches as well whale-watching excursions from late January to the end of March.
ChatGPT also recognized the attractions of the Dominican high mountains and chose Valle Nuevo and Constanza for the number five position. At 2200 meters above sea level, this area provides unique vistas, flora, and agriculture not seen in other places in the Caribbean. The Aguas Blancas waterfall is now easily reached by car.
Number six went to the Los Haitises National Park at the end of the Samana Bay. It features pictographs by what were the native population, the Taino Indians.
And at number seven, the AI service placed the Salto de Jimenoa in Jarabacoa. A really beautiful waterfall that affords very cool bathing, and an interesting walk to get there.
How many have you visited?
