High surf forcast to continue impacting north coast shores

The Dominican Weather Institute (Indomet) reports conditions of high surf will continue on the north coast if the present system moving to the west towards Dominican Republic continues on this path. The north coast has been affected by recent storms that have been delivering high surf for the past two weeks.

The broad area of low pressure associated with a low-latitude tropical wave continues to produce a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms over the tropical central Atlantic as the system makes its way to the Caribbean. The National Hurricane Center of the United States says there is a 70% chance that the storm will develop.

The environmental conditions appear generally conducive for the gradual development of the system. NHC says that a tropical depression is likely to form within the next few days while it moves quickly west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic, approaching the northern Leeward Islands in the Caribbean by the latter part of the week.
