Intrant case in the headlines as prosecutors give details of the major irregularities

Public prosecutors of the Attorney General Office have released the findings in the accusations of the investigations into National Transit and Transport Institute (Intrant) operations and these point to widespread institutional weakness and lack of government supervision to impede the major and continuing scams that have impacted the entity.

The prosecutors are looking into the network of companies related to Jose Angel Gomez (Jochi) and reveal that DeKolor (that had the contract for issuing the Dominican driver licenses), Transcore Latam (that had the contract for new traffic lights for Santo Domingo), Aurix and Pago RDXchange generated irregularly sourced resources and these were siphoned off to OML Investments.

The preliminary public prosecution investigations in the case, named Cameleon, look into irregularities after Rafael Arias Ramirez, a high-ranking officer of the Fenatrado trucking association, was appointed to head the Transit and Transport Institute (Intrant) with the start of the Abinader administration in 2020. The irregularities continued when Arias was replaced by transport expert Hugo Beras.

The case went public after conflicts of interest between competing private contractors and suppliers came to the forefront.
