Local media reported the arrival of named US ambassador Leah Francis Campos on Thursday, 30 October 2025. Her arrival had been postponed because of the passing of Tropical Storm Melissa.
She has yet to present credentials to Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez and then to President Luis Abinader to formally begin her term in the Dominican Republic. Her predecessor is Robin Bernstein, who left at the end of the first Trump administration in January 2020.
