The Dominican Weather Institute (Indomet) forecasts excellent weather conditions for outdoor activities as the country approaches the New Year celebrations, with a high-pressure system dominating the local forecast.
According to Indomet, the atmosphere is currently characterized by low humidity, favoring mostly sunny skies and scarce rainfall across the majority of the national territory. The overall trend is one of stability.
For Monday and Tuesday (29 and 30 December 2025), the weather conditions will remain highly favorable for outdoor festivities. The prevailing high-pressure system will maintain sunny conditions with very limited cloud cover.
Indomet notes that while the chance of rain is minimal, widely isolated and weak showers cannot be entirely ruled out for the Atlantic coast and mountainous systems due to local geographical effects on the northern coast. However, no significant changes in the meteorological environment are expected through Tuesday.
Temperatures are expected to remain fresh and pleasant, a result of the winter season and cool northeasterly winds. Indomet highlights that it will be noticeably colder in mountain areas and interior valleys, where dense fog is likely to form.
In the Greater Santo Domingo area, minimum temperatures will range between 18°C and 20°C, while maximums will reach between 27°C and 29°C.
In high-altitude areas, the cold will be more pronounced. For example, Constanza is forecast to see lows between 8°C and 10°C.
Regional forecast highlights:
• Greater Santo Domingo: Mostly sunny with some cloud increases in the afternoon.
• Santiago & Puerto Plata: Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers.
• Samaná: Mostly sunny with increased cloudiness in the afternoon.
• Punta Cana / La Altagracia: Mostly sunny.
• San Juan: Partly cloudy with morning fog; lows dipping to 14°C – 16°C.
Marine conditions remain normal along all coasts of the country.
