President Luis Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje addressed the Dominican nation with an emotional Christmas message, highlighting the importance of unity, solidarity, and the fundamental values that guide the country, while also warning against the dangers of ambition and an excessive love for wealth.
In a video broadcast, the President reflected on the true meaning of the holiday, emphasizing that “it is a time to reaffirm the values we learned in our homes: respect, honesty, and humility.”
He further underscored that Christmas should be “like that simple and silent night in which Jesus was born, without ostentation or grandeur.”
First Lady Raquel Arbaje joined the President in the address, stating, “I am here, not only as his life partner but as an ally in the cause of serving and positively transforming our nation.” She called on Dominicans to engage in sincere introspection, to learn, to vindicate themselves, and to reconnect with the best parts of themselves as human beings and as a country.
The President invited citizens to share “the love of their families, the embrace of true friends, and the faith that sustains us.” He remarked that “happiness is not born from having, but from loving; not from excess, but from the peace that dwells in the heart.”
The presidential couple’s message continued with a call for unity and hope, offering a prayer that “this Christmas unites us in love, renews hope in every Dominican family, and that the Christ Child fills our homes with light, peace, and blessings.”
The message concluded with the phrases: “God bless the Dominican Republic!” and “Merry Christmas and a New Year full of hope!”
