The Santo Domingo Metro Office, officially known as the Office for Transport Reorganization (OPRET), announced Friday, 9 January 2026 that a scheduled preventive maintenance program will temporarily affect evening service on Metro Line 1 beginning Saturday, 10 January 2026.
The maintenance work is slated to run through Sunday, 25 January, and will specifically impact the northern section of the line.
To accommodate the technical work, service between the Gregorio Urbano Gilbert and Mamá Tingó stations will be suspended nightly starting at 8pm. Operations across the rest of the network will continue until the standard closing time, and full service will resume each morning at the usual opening hour.
In an effort to minimize disruptions for late-night commuters, the Metropolitan Bus Services Office (OMSA) will provide free shuttle buses along the affected route. These units will bridge the gap between the closed stations during the maintenance window.
