The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Defense announced the capture of a Haitian national allegedly linked to a series of gruesome murders in his home country. The suspect, identified as Chin Laduse, was apprehended during a border patrol operation along the Macasías River in Elías Piña.
According to official reports, Laduse was found hiding in dense brush near the riverbank on 27 January 2026. He was accompanied by a minor, identified as his son.
Investigations have revealed a chilling modus operandi involving a criminal network operating on the Haitian side of the border. The group reportedly targeted Haitian women with false promises of safe passage into the Dominican Republic. Instead of receiving help, the victims were subjected to sexual assault and murdered.
“The victims were killed on Haitian soil, and their bodies were thrown into the Macasías River,” authorities stated. Some of the remains, many found decapitated, eventually drifted into Dominican territory.
Upon his arrest, Laduse claimed he was fleeing Haiti to escape a mob that had already set fire to his home. He admitted to being accused of participating in the murders of several women whose bodies were discovered in the riverbed.
The Ministry of Defense said Laduse and the minor were held at the Army’s La Estrella Fortress. They were transferred to Migration (DGM) for biometric registration. Laduse was afterwards handed over to the Haitian National Police to face formal charges for the alleged crimes.
In a statement issued through the J-5 Directorate of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Defense reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining order and national sovereignty. The Ministry emphasized that these operations are part of a permanent surveillance strategy to support national authorities and ensure regional security along the border strip.
In the case that has shocked both sides of the Hispaniola border, Dominican authorities say the man confessed to the brutal murder of five women. The investigation gained significant momentum following the discovery of a headless female body washed ashore by a river in Dominican territory, a grim discovery that eventually led investigators to the suspect.
The suspect, was detained after a series of forensic leads linked him to the victim found in the river. During interrogation, he allegedly admitted not only to that specific killing but to a string of four other homicides.
This case has intensified discussions regarding border security and the cooperation between Haitian and Dominican police forces. The Dominican National Police have emphasized their commitment to a thorough investigation to ensure all victims are identified and justice is served for their families.
“The level of violence described in the confession is unprecedented in recent local memory, prompting a high-priority response from the Ministry of Justice.”
