Media reports are that the Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro is likely to go into operation this February 2026. President Luis Abinader, acknowledging delays in its completion, had rode the 7.3 km route north of the train in September and announced it would be ready to open to the general public in February 2026.
Minister of the Presidency Jose Ignacio Paliza is not giving a specific date but says Line 2C is ready and will open to the public in time for President Luis Abinader’s 27 February state of the nation address.
Line 2C was begun in January 2022 and then the government had said it would be operational in two years. The line connects Line 2 to the outskirts of Santo Domingo. A skylift also connects commuters in the populous area of Los Alcarrizos.
