In early February 2026, President Luis Abinader and Minister of Housing, Victor Bisono took part in the World Governments Summit in Dubai. As a result of the conversations at the summit, President Abinader witnessed the signing of an agreement that will have the Dominican Republic hosting the World Governments Summit Regional Dialogue for Latin America here at the end of 2026.
The dialogue will promote foreign investments from the UAE in Latin America and lead to the greater integration of the two regions, according to President Abinader.
According to a press release from the Executive Branch, the idea behind such an important regional event is to position the Dominican Republic as a regional hub for talks, investment, and international cooperation.
