An Israeli company, IAI ELTA has won the tender to build 2 radars to be used to detect air drug shipments to the DR. The radars, which will cost US$34.6 million, will be located at the Center of Command and Control C3 that will be located at the San Isidro Air Base. The radars are three-dimensional. One will have a range of 260 nautical miles, and the other of 90 nautical miles, according to the Ministry of Armed Forces. The radars will work in coordination with the 8 new Super Tucano Brazilian airplanes purchased by the Dominican government last year.
