Two security guards at the Banco BHD on the intersection between Avenida Privada and Romulo Betancourt in Santo Domingo succeeded in preventing a robbery on Friday. Avendi Manzueta suffered a broken arm, and his colleague Severiano Ramirez was shot in the buttock.
The attempted robbery is reported to have occurred at around 3pm.
Witnesses say three accomplices waiting in a white Infiniti escaped from the scene of the crime.
Manzueta was able to apprehend one of the would-be thieves, Eddy Armando Espinal. He said that at first they thought it was a joke because the men arrived wearing fake moustaches and beards.
