According to Diario Libre, bank sales of the dollar were flowing normally yesterday, albeit at high rates. Nevertheless, banker forecasts expect the dollar to drop. Banks were buying dollars yesterday at approximately RD$24.70 and sales to the general public were being transacted at roughly RD$25.56 to US$1.
Luis Molina Achecar of the BHD told the press that the long lineups at the banks to purchase dollars have diminished and exchange transactions have normalized.
Speaking at the end of the same meeting, Frank Guerrero Prats, governor of the Central Bank, said that the Dominican Republic receives US$35 to US$45 million daily, amounts he considers sufficient to handle the normal demands of the economy.
