President Hipolito Mejia is unhappy about the announced 15 March protest event organized by the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and said that former President Leonel Fernandez should not be stirring up crowds. During his regular Sunday appearance on the ?Una Vez por Semana? talk show televised on Channel 4, President Mejia spoke at length, saying ?Political demagoguery is not compatible with the reality of the country, nor with the reality of the world. I can reaffirm that the economic situation of the country is bad, but it is not worse than that of 95 percent of the countries of the world.?
When commenting on the announced PLD protest marches, he said he believed that ?a man who has been President should be careful not to become a common agitator (agitadorcito cualquiera).?
