Power rates up considerably

Superintendent of Power Julio Cross announced that residential customers will receive increases of about 20 percent in their power bills for March and that industrial customers could expect hikes of about 14 percent. The Superintendence issued Resolution 17-2003 that sets the new rates. 
For residential consumers the new energy charges will be: 
Consumption of less than 300 kWh: RD$3.46 (up from RD$2.87 in February) 
Consumption of more than 300kWH: RD$4.27 (up from RD$3.55 in February)
Industrial consumers? increases will be slightly less, as follows: 
The energy charge is now RD$2.62 (up from RD$2.30)
Industrial customers also pay base rate and capacity charges.
