The Dominican national volleyball team (3-2) won bronze in the Norceca League Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Saturday, 14 July. The DR won bronze with a 3-2 victory over Brazil at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center’s Volleyball Pavilion. The US won gold in the event after defeating Argentina on Sunday, 15 July (5-0). Argentina (4-1) was the silver medalist.
The Dominican team clinched the bronze with a 3-2 (28-26, 25-23, 21-25, 24-26,15-11) victory over Brazil in 2 hours and 14 minutes on Saturday. Dominican captain Jose Miguel Caceres (27) topped the offense with the effective support of Elvis Contreras (17) and Elnis Palomino (14). For Brazil, the top scorers were Mauricio Borges (19), Gustavo Bonatto (16), Alan Ferreira Souza (13) and Otavio Rodriguez (11).
