Teachers to face stricter tests

Teachers will have to undergo a more demanding recruitment procedure, reports the Listin Diario newspaper. As of June, all prospective
teachers must submit to a rigorous application process and take courses in related skills, such as personal and ethical development.
It is estimated that about 4,000 teachers are working without formal appointments. This comes amidst strike action and protests by teachers
seeking better pay, and alarming rates of truancy and dropouts.
