While it rolls off the tongue rather awkwardly, the “Paseo Maritimo 30 de Mayo” will be an eight-kilometer stretch along Santo Domingo’s oceanfront boulevard that will be beautified and cleaned up as a walking path for citizens and tourists alike. The National District city government and the Ministry of Public Works have announced that upwards of RD$253 million will be spent on rebuilding and widening sidewalks and surrounding areas and repairing the damage caused by waves from tropical storms over the years. The entire stretch will be provided with lights and new greenery, including trees.
