The chief of the National Police has warned that loudspeakers exceeding the established noise limits will be seized by the authorities. In Memorandum 32026, Major General Jose Armando Polanco Gomez says that in each case where an abusive use of music equipment has been established, police “agents will seize the equipment with no excuses…” If such a seizure takes place without the presence of a prosecutor, the action must be reported at once. All of this, according to El Nuevo Diario, is in response to complaints from citizens living close to bars and ‘colmadones’.
