Judge rules Rafael Rosado of Caribair to stay in jail

The judge of the Permanent Attention Court, Jose Alejandro Vargas has turned down a petition for a habeas corpus writ with which Rafael Rosado is seeking release from charges of involvement in an international drug ring. The court said it would rule on a preventive custody petition. Rafael Rosado was arrested on suspicion of links to the crashed aircraft in Constanza on 27 September that was revealed to be involved in the operations of an international drug ring. State prosecutors have asked for a year’s preventive custody in the case for Rosado. Last week the National Drug Control Department, the Attorney General Office and the US Drug Enforcement Administration announced they had dismantled what they described as a powerful international drug trafficking structure made up by Dominicans and foreigners, including military personnel, who used the Dominican Republic as a hub for their operations for refitting aircraft for sending to South America to pick up the drugs, as reported in Listin Diario.
