Today, Tuesday 16 October and until Thursday, 18 October thunderstorms are forecast for the north, north east, south east, central mountain area and the border due to the influence of a weather front. In addition the wind is coming from the south and southwest, which will increase cloud cover.
In the north, northeast and east, sea conditions will be rough and small craft are advised to stay close to shore.
Tropical storm Rafael became a hurricane last night, with maximum winds of 140 kilometers an hour. This morning it was situated some 635 kilometers south of Bermuda, moving to the north/northeast, but forecasters say it poses no threat to the Dominican Republic.
