The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) says that at least ten raids have been carried out in search of the ringleaders of a drug trafficking network that brought 928 packets of cocaine into the country via the south coast on Saturday night, 20 October.
Seven people have been arrested so far, including Julio Cesar Herrera Marte, Marcelino Cuevas Feliz, Melvin Perez and Ramon Villar. Jose Luis Garcia Ortiz, who was injured during the operation, is under guard in hospital.
The search is on for the alleged masterminds, believed to be the brothers Sail Luis and Otto Luis Ducasse Herrera. The DNCD are also looking for Cesar Peralta, who has been arrested several times for drug trafficking, Pedro Mota and a third man only known as “The Spider” (La Arana).
The raids were carried out in an exclusive sector of the capital as well as in Boca Chica.
