Three fishermen, Riani Tejeda, Jeremias Tejeda and Benyi Tejeda, aged 20, 37 and 38, were rescued by friends and relatives off the coast of Bani yesterday, Wednesday 24 October.
They had left early Tuesday morning, 23 October, to go fishing in an area known as ‘Shark Zone’ and as they were coming back in the afternoon the boat’s engine failed and they were swept out to sea by the current.
Riani Tejeda called his father, Victor Tejeda, on his cell phone who immediately set sail with another fisherman but the weather was so bad that they had to return to shore without being able to reach the stranded fishermen.
The search began again the next day, Wednesday 24 October, when Victor Tejeda set sail again with two other fishermen and, despite the poor weather conditions they managed to find the fishermen and return them to shore, together with their fish.
