Police to help people to read and write

Major General Jose Sigfrido Fernandez Fadul, Rector of the National Police Specialist Institute of Higher Studies (IEESPON), has said that the National Police will be helping with the National Literacy Plan, which aims to teach more than 800,000 illiterate Dominicans to read and write.

Major General Polanco Gomez stated his commitment to including the police in this work saying that it demonstrates the Police’s commitment to Dominican society.

As part of this pledge, 100 police educators will participate directly by teaching in 72 classes throughout 12 provinces.

Luis Holguin, technical advisor at the General Adult Department at the Ministry of Education has said that the support of the Police will mean that many more people will have the chance to learn.
