IMF met with the government

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation currently in the DR to evaluate the national economic situation held a meeting with President Danilo Medina and other government officials yesterday, Wednesday 14 November.

They met at the Presidential Palace with President Medina, Central Bank Governor Hector Valdez Albizu, Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo, Minister of Economy, Planning and Development Temistocles Montas, Minister of the Treasury Simon Lizardo Mezquita and National Budget director Luis Reyes.

According to Valdez Albizu, the team acknowledged that the fiscal deficit will take two or three years to overcome and that they had factored in the effects of the recently approved tax reform and other changes in government spending. The IMF delegation is led by Przemek Gaddeczka and includes officials Francisco Grigoli, Sarwart Jahan, Andrew Swiston, Jesus Gonzalez Garcia and Mario Dehesa.
