Counterfeit rum?

Police authorities, in coordination with the Justice Department, have dismantled an illegal rum laboratory that was used to distill and bottle fake rum. The lab was in Bani, in the province of Peravia. The authorities told El Nuevo Diario reporters that they had also seized hundreds of bottles of various sizes ready to be sold, a gallon of honey, five plastic tanks, one of which was half full of rum, a gallon of molasses, a bag of stamps and other evidence. Luis Amauris Tejeda Ruiz was arrested with a pickup truck with eight cases of empty rum bottles of the same brand. The gang, allegedly headed by Faustino Soto Santana, makes “rum” for all of the local brands, according to the police report. Nothing is sacred any more.
