Rosado: Putting the DNCD under Justice is “ridiculous”

The head of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) did not mince his words when asked for his comments on a recent suggestion by Institutionalism and Justice Foundation (Finjus) director Servio Tulio Castanos to place the agency under the aegis of the Justice Department because of constitutional issues as well as an apparent decline in its trustworthiness. Castanos referred to the latter issue because the DNI, Dominican Navy and National Police anti-drug units had made some of the recent major drug seizures. Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo told El Caribe reporters that the change being suggested by Castanos would lead to a series of hierarchy issues since the commander of the DNCD only reports to the President of the Republic. He stated that for this reason, “there are no sacred cows and any office can be investigated.”
