The president of the Social Democratic Revolutionary Party, PRSD, Hatuey De Camps, has said that he has no intention whatsoever of uniting with Hipolito Mejia to form a new political party, as he is very happy with his current party. De Camps broke away from the PRD and founded the PRSD in 2004 as a response to Mejia’s constitutional amendment permitting consecutive presidential reelection, which he described as “a curse”.
Speaking yesterday, Tuesday 15 January, de Camps said that he was sad about Mejia’s expulsion from the PRD but confirmed that although people could be very creative, he had not met with him and any idea of the two of them joining forces was simply gossip and rumor.
