The Embassy of Chile reports that Dominicans are now ranked as the third nationality applying for legal migration permits. Diario Libre reports that job opportunities now available in the healthy Chilean economy are attracting many Dominicans. As has happened with other countries, the first to migrate are spreading the news of the good opportunities and encouraging other family members to follow. Diario Libre reports that Chilean statistics indicate that in 2011 Dominicans received 1,555 work permits.
