The police have arrested three more suspects in the case of the murder of Alexandro Acosta Soto (Alex), who was shot in a liquor store on Rafael Augusto Sanchez Street at the corner of Abraham Lincoln Avenue in Santo Domingo last Friday, 1 February.
Jordan Garcia Contreras (Jordan), 22, was accused of driving the motorcycle and Rolando Antonio Piliel Fernandez (La Barbie), 21, of carrying out the shooting.
The police recovered the motorcycle as well as EUR6,600 of the EUR7,500 which they had received for the execution from former policemen Jose Leonel Rodriguez, who is under arrest and Diomaris Ramon Encarnacion who has fled to New York.
Originally Jose Leonel said that it was Diomaris Ramon who actually carried out the shooting but then “Jordan” gave a different version of the story and alleged it was “La Barbie”.
Jose Antonio Vargas Guerrero voluntarily handed over EUR3,600 which ‘La Barbie’ had given him to look after, and Yaneris Andujar Mendez (Sujey), aged 34, handed over EUR3,000 which ‘Jordan’ had given to her for safekeeping.
Last night, Wednesday 6 February, according to police spokesman General Maximo Baez Aybar, former naval officer Hector Luis Mendez Alvarez (Rubio El Marino), who was supposedly the person who offered a large sum of money for the hit, handed himself over to the police, leaving only former policeman Diomaris Ramon still at large.
The police subsequently announced that the total amount paid to the gang was RD$1,660,500 in cash and they believe the murder was related to the organized crime and drug trafficking underworld.
