Handicap center staff fired

Last week, DR1 News reported on the case of corruption or ineptitude in the CONADI, the organization that is supposed to help the handicapped. Only one handicapped person was employed on the staff of 300, which bore greater resemblance to a family reunion than a functioning governmental agency. Nuria Piera, the tenacious television reporter, covered this story on her show last weekend. Today?s Listin Diario announces that President Mej?a has fired the head of the agency and asked Vice President Milagros Ortiz Bosch to carry out a total reorganization. The government had generously funded this organization, while the true center for handicapped persons, Centro de Rehabilitacion under Mary de Marranzini has had to beg for its monthly allotments.
