Dominican Juan Luis Guerra won The Tropical Merengue Artist of the Year Award of the Premio Lo Nuestro Awards of Univision held at the American Airlines Arena in Miami on Thursday night, 21 February. Juan Luis Guerra had opened the evening paying homage to the show’s 25-year history with a mix of favorites performed on Premios in past years, as reported in the Miami Herald. Guerra dedicated his award to Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Robi Draco Rosa who is recovering from cancer.
Other winners were Romeo Santos and Prince Royce, both of Dominican origin.
