Workers in small businesses, the agricultural sector and domestic workers, who are beneficiaries of the program known as ‘Progress with Solidarity’, or who have social subsidies and receive money from the government, will now be incorporated into the Social Security Program, following an agreement signed by the Vice President of the Republic, Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez, via the Social Policy Cabinet together with the Mutual Association of Solidarity Services (AMUSSOL).
The agreement states that beneficiaries and their dependents will have access to Family Heath Insurance, a pension, and insurance against disability, life insurance and cover whilst they are at work, offered by the different Pension Fund Managers (AFP) Labor Risk Insurers (ARL).
The Vice President said that this measure meant that Social Security protection would be given to those who really needed it. She said that the government was working to reduce poverty and to ensure that the most vulnerable members of the population had adequate protection via Social Security.
