Carnival in Punta Cana

This Saturday, 9 March the Boulevard 1 de Noviembre in Punta Cana Village, opposite the Punta Cana International airport, will be hosting its sixth annual carnival parade. It is an opportunity for tourists and locals alike to enjoy the best of carnival in a stress-free setting. The celebration will officially begin at 3:30pm with a parade of international delegations from Aruba, Curacao, Haiti and St Martin, as well as a selection of the very best carnival troupes from all over the Dominican Republic. Admission is free, but spectators have the option of buying VIP passes for the stands, available from the Grupo Puntacana offices in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana Village. A warm-up party is being held the night before, Friday 8 March, with a concert by merengue star Sergio Vargas at the Punta Cava bar in Galerias Punta Cana, Punta Cana Village. The closing concert on Saturday evening after the parade will feature El Poeta Callejero and Los Hermanos Rosario. More details can be found at www.puntacana.com/carnaval
