The National Statistics Office (ONE) says that women made up 44% of the workforce in 2011, an increase from 37.5% in 1991. ONE recently presented a report on women in the Dominican workforce, analyzing statistics from 1991 to 2011. ONE says that the main reason that more women do not go out to work is the difficulty in combining housework and family care responsibilities with work outside the home.
