Money for public hospitals

The government has announced that it is investing more than RD$300 million in public hospitals, with a focus on infrastructure, equipment and human resources.

Public Health Minister Freddy Hidalgo made the announcement yesterday Tuesday 12 March, saying that the first hospital that would become ‘new and modern’ would be the Dr. Luis Eduardo Aybar (Morgan) hospital in Santo Domingo. A first stage would include the addition of a maternity and pediatrics building. He said that as well as reducing maternal and infant mortality the investment would improve hospital services across the country.

He added that he would inaugurate a regional blood bank in the southern region in June and that in the next few days he would deliver 50 ambulances to hospitals that have been prioritized.
