During a somewhat rambling interview on the Dialogo Libre program sponsored by Diario Libre and televised by OMTV over the weekend on 16 and 17 March, Vice President Margarita Cedeno said that for the time being she does not have plans to aspire to a “higher political office.” Using the phrase “the truth is…” the VP said that she was fully immersed in her work as the head of the Social Cabinet which tries to meet the needs of the country’s poorest people. She said that she wants to continue to develop her “Progress with Solidarity” programs that provide young people with access to technology and give them the same opportunities as “our own children have had.”
A former eight-year long First Lady as wife of former President Leonel Fernandez, Cedeno sought to be the presidential candidate on the PLD ticket in the PLD primaries.
