Foundations sell subsidized propane gas to reduce deforestation in Los Haitises

Good news. The Tropigas Natural and Karsos foundations have announced the opening of the first subsidized propane gas station targeted at farmers living in Los Haitises. The station, El Gas de la Loma is part of a project to install 12 stations in rural communities in areas nationwide, where so far supplies have been difficult.

Rene del Risco, speaking for Tropigas, said that the foundations seek to contribute to eliminate the illegal production of charcoal. The stations are selling propane RD$10 less per gallon than at other stations.
