Driver freed on bail after death of three siblings

The 20-year old accused of unintentional homicide of the Santana Alcantara siblings — 38-year old Margarita, 40-year old Deris and 42-year old Jose, is being released on bail, said Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) spokesman Jacobo Mateo Moquete. Robert Bocio Novas is accused of causing the deaths of the three bystanders who had been celebrating the Dominican Republic’s win in the World Baseball Classic on Tuesday, 19 March. AMET investigators say Bocio Nova crashed into the three siblings when driving a Suzuki Grand Vitara at more than 120km per hour on Av. Winston Churchill in Santo Domingo. Bocio Nova left the scene of the crime and presented himself at the Casa del Conductor, the private insurance and police center, the next morning. Bocio Novas is said to have been under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred.
