The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) celebrated World Meteorological Day yesterday, Sunday 24 March with a forecast for some scattered showers, mostly in the northeast, southeast and the central mountains. The rain is caused by the humidity drawn in by a combination of winds from the southeast and local effects. The country is under the influence of a high-pressure system located over the North Atlantic. According to Onamet the weather will be good throughout this week, with little rain and slightly higher temperatures. A slight drizzle fell on Monday, 25 March, good news for a nation that is suffering the effects of a prolonged drought.
