Hector Acosta wins main prize at Premios Soberano

Merengue singer Hector Acosta, “El Torito”, was the winner of the main award, ‘El Gran Soberano’ last night, Tuesday 9 April at the re-launched awards Ceremony for the Arts at the National Theater. Upon receiving his award he dedicated it to the winning World Baseball Classic Dominican team. Franklin Leon, president of the Dominican National Brewery (CND) and Maximo Jimenez, president of the Association of Show Business Writers, presented the award to the Merengue artist from Bonao highlighting his continuous work, his discipline and good behavior during the last 20 years. Acosta had won the award for the most popular group overseas earlier in the evening.

Romeo Santos and Ramon Orlando also took three awards each.

Ricardo Montaner (Argentina), Don Omar (Puerto Rico) and Jessy & Joy (Mexico) received the International Soberano awards. Henry Garcia and Luchy Vicioso received Special Soberano awards.
