Former President Leonel Fernandez has declared personal assets of RD$14 million, a two million-peso reduction on his 2008 statement. Fernandez was President of the Dominican Republic from 1996-2000, and from 2004-2012. Acento.com.co reports that he fulfilled the requirement of declaring his personal worth at the National Treasury on 30 October 2012, after the end of his third term in government.
Acento says that former President Leonel Fernandez had declared total assets of RD$18 million in 2008, with liabilities of RD$2 million at the time. Acento makes the point that in the statement the former President does not indicate the currency of the amounts declared.
